Builders Association Award Winners Announced Builders Association Award Winners Announced
January 7, 2007, Indianapolis - The Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis (BAGI) named its highest recognition award winners during the 43rd annual Janus Ball held January 5, 2008 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom.

Winners Were:
Builder of the Year: Mike Gorman, Gorman Homes Builder of the Year is presented to an individual builder member who has worked diligently on behalf of the industry and the association over the past year. Gorman has been a BAGI member for 20 years as a custom builder and remodeler. In 2007 he served as first vice president of the board of directions and a scholarship trustee. He is past president of the Johnson County Builders Council and was the council's builder of the year in 2002 and 2006. Gorman's passion for building extends to helping everyone realize the dream of homeownership.

A long-time supporter and board member of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Indianapolis, Gorman helped the Johnson County Builders Council create a Habitat chapter in Johnson County and personally assisted in building the first three Habitat homes in that county.

Associate of the Year (tie): Mike Crabb, Pillar Group Risk Management and Randy Crutchfield, Vectren Energy Delivery This award is presented to an individual associate member who has returned significant time and service to the industry over the past year. This year the award voting ended in a tie. In 2007, Mike Crabb chaired the safety subcommittee of the Education Committee and co-chaired the Scholarship Golf Outing Committee. He also was an active member of the Associates Committee and worked to introduce an insurance program as a member benefit. Randy Crutchfield's association involvement included the membership, Builder Bash, Parade of Homes and Casino Night committees. He was a member of the Sales and Marketing Council where he served as secretary and a member of the MAME committee. Crutchfield was also a member of the Hamilton County Builders Council.

Esprit de Corps: Amanda Wooden, Stoneworks, LLC This award is given to someone who embodies the "Spirit of the Troops." It is presented to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding member involvement and who has become involved within the last three years. Wooden's association involvement includes work on the golf outing, Builder Bash, Casino Night, Home-A-Rama, Parade of Homes, and Scholarship golf outing committees. Her "whatever it takes" attitude is evident in that she arrives early to help set up golf outings and spent hours on her feet as a Home-A-Rama greeter, all while expecting her fifth child. In addition to her personal involvement, her employer, Stoneworks, was the spring golf outing lunch sponsor.

Mike Boeke Outstanding Service Award: Tom Mullen, Thomas E Mullen & Associates Inc. The award bears the name of the late Mike Boeke of Davidson Industries whose daily devotion and service to the industry, community, and association was always above and beyond the call of duty. Since becoming a member in 1988, Mullen has been one of the industry's staunchest supporters. He aided in the re-formation of the Sales and Marketing Council, elected to the BAGI Board of Directors in 1990 and 2001, and has been instrumental in obtaining grants from the National Association of Home Builders. His current involvement includes being a life director and executive committee member of the Indiana Builders Association. Formerly Mullen served as the chair of the Midwest Builders Convention. At the national level, he currently serves as an executive committee member. In the past he chaired the Sales and Marketing Council, Home Builders Institute, and the International Housing Committee.

Firm Foundation Award: Speedway SuperAmerica, LLC This award is presented to a BAGI member firm that has demonstrated commitment to the building industry through its involvement with the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis. By offering a fuel discount program to association members, Speedway SuperAmerica's involvement benefits all members. In addition, they have been involved in numerous events including Builder Bash as an exhibitor and food sponsor, New Member Orientations, Janus Ball, Casio Night, and Scholarship Golf Outing. Speedway SuperAmerica is a supporter of and advertiser in Sites magazine.
